As a lifelong resident of Detroit, a graduate of Southwestern High School, and someone who is raising my family here, I’m committed to working together to create a safer, cleaner, stronger community for all of us. Since I’ve been in office, my fully-staffed service center has provided direct advocacy and services to my residents.
My staff and I have:
- Provided free tax preparation services to 700 low-income families;
- Offered case management to 600 residents, ranging from human services issues, foreclosure, utility assistance, and so much more;
- Started three block clubs that meet on a monthly basis;
- Distributed over 9,000 free children books to tackle the issue of literacy;
- Held College Days that brought university representatives to speak with high school students about the admissions process. Helped over 400 families to save their home to tax foreclosure; and
- Held Citizenship Days offering free legal assistance with the application process.
I am the eldest of 14 and a child of immigrants, and I know the importance of hard work, honesty, and commitment to community. Both at the Capitol and in our neighborhoods, my priority is serving you and your family.

Whether it’s strengthening consumer protections, helping to create block clubs, meeting with local officials to combat blight, fighting for environmental justice or taking other actions to make life better in our community, I will not stop working for you.
